Module 1: Entering Research
Module Description
Learn how research works and how you can become part of it. You’ll explore the research lifecycle, develop a research question, discover strategies for finding scholarly literature, and learn how research teams support the research process. The module concludes with an introduction to open research and the principles that guide responsible research practices.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Define research and describe the research lifecycle
- Develop and evaluate a research question
- Identify strategies for finding scholarly literature
- Describe the people, organizations, and institutions that make up the research ecosystem
- Identify pathways for getting involved in undergraduate research
- Explain how openness, transparency, and accessibility contribute to responsible research practices
